Paralysis ticks are also becoming active. Tick activity has increased over the past 5 or so years.  Ticks are most active during the spring and summer months. Clnical signs of tick toxicity include - paralysis, starting with the hind legs, breathing difficulties, nausea, vomiting, salivation, fitting.

Ticks can be prevented using products such as Bravecto.  Call into the clinic to pick up Bravecto over the counter.

Snakes have emerged after their winter hibernation.

Local Snake species include: common brown, king brown, red bellied black and the tiger snake.  

Unfortunately, snake envenomation is a common problem here on the granite belt.

If your pet is bitten, symptoms include: weakness, incoordination, paralysis, nausea, vomiting, salivation, panting, fitting.
